There’s this guy who is interested in me, but sometimes he’d say things that make him look and sound cheap. He took me to china town once and he talked about how he likes it there because that’s where you can get your cheap vegetables. Then he told me how he signs up for club promotions online because he doesn’t want to pay for a club he’s never been to. Then he tells me how he doesn’t buy greek yogurt because it’s so bloody expensive, but it’s 5 dollars for about a jug and blah blah blah. I hate when men start appearing to be cheap. I’m not high maintenance or anything, but correct me if I’m wrong, during the first few months you meet a girl, she doesn’t exactly want to hear about what a cheap guy you are. On a date a girl just wants to have fun, not hear about how this is gonna cost you. geez! Am I right? Is it cause for me to rethink this as future cheapness may arise?

I’ve said I’m not high maintenance, but him telling me all of this makes me uncomfortable and makes me feel like if he takes me out it’ll be a burden to him since he’s frugal, ugh.

I guess you would be happier with I guy that just spent all the money he had with no regard to what or how much it cost. Then when he marries you he blows all your money and leaves you broke and having to file bankruptcy. I bet if you ask 10 middle aged women you will find 2 or three who can tell you about it.

There are books on royal doulton that will price it for you. Look in antiques books.

zero, there are millions all over the world.

Question for royal doulton collectors only.

No 2 point junkie answers please.

Have any other collectors had a piece mysteriously develop a crack, usually on the base of the figurine, knowing full well that they have not knocked or damaged the piece themselves?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I know what causes it what I want to know is how many others have experienced this same problem?

This is caused by a flaw in the clay (like an air bubble). Are you able to return it to the store you bought it from, if you acquired it recently? Hope someone who collects can help you – but it is quite a well-known phenomenon in ceramics.

Ask Hyacinth Bucket. She’s all about the royal doulton with the periwinkle pattern.

Just type royal doulton into search, there are loads of links

i would like to sell my figurines they are in mint condition ,and i would like to know what is the best way to sell them ,and what are they worth today
thank you

I’m not convinced there is a single ‘best way’ to sell them. There are plenty of online places you can list them for sale, including ebay.com, bonanzle.com, ecrater.com and craigslist.com. There is also a dedicated message board at: http://www.worldcollectorsnet.com/doulton/doultonboard.html.

Local auction houses, as suggested in the prior answer, is another way, as well as local advertising in newspapers.

I would expect you could get approx $100 each for your 2 figurines, but if you are prepared to list them for more and wait longer, you could get anything up to or even greater than their insurance valuations, which are approximately $200-$250 each.

Hi,

My grandma has recently died, and she has a lot of royal doulton figurines which she has collected over the years. The family will probably keep some as momento’s but I was wondering what would be a good way to sell the others online… I know there is ebay but I don’t think that’s really the best way to sell specialist objects is it? Ideas appreciated

I would go to a reputable auction house where they will put them on the internet and in their catalogue.
They will also value them for you.
Dalton figures always depend on rarity of the model and age
avoid eBay.

There is a letter A on the left hand side of the stamp. Very bizzarre!

Check out these items on e bay. That should give you a clue.

This one also has the A stamp:

Ive got a full 10 place sitting royal doulton crockery set that Im thinking of getting valued. Its got the full works ranging from tea set – steak and normal plates – cake stand – serving plates. Massive set and never been used. Was passed down to me. Its all got Royal Doulton stamp. Also has CANTON H5052 on it. Would anyone have an idea what its worth?

There are quite a few pieces on EBay, so look on there it will give you some idea of prices. A cake stand it £12, Sugar bowl £9.99 Milk jug £9.99, Coffee cup and saucer £12.99, Tea plate £6.50. They are not hugely expensive but it would soon mount up with the quantity that you have.
