White oval measuring 7 1/2" long and 5 1/2" at its widest. In the center is an illustration of (I think) a Scottish castle. It appears to have the yellow/red and blue/white Scotland flags flying on a building to the right. Wrought iron gates in the front with a guard in red/black attire. royal doulton backstamp includes lion atop a crown, Made in England, ROYAL DOULTON, England, Bone China… to the right of the crown is a 5 – I’m thinking it’s from 1932. Can anyone shed any light on this beauty? I do have a photo if you’d like to see it. THANK YOU

One of this country’s largest china experts are the folks at Replacements Ltd. You could probably email them the photo and info you have and they can get back to you about it, they might even want to buy it.

My grandmother passed away recently and left me a huge amount of things in storage, I am keeping all the things of sentimental value and some valuable things but it still leaves a huge amount of china, glass, jewelery, books, vintage clothing, random ornaments… some of the stuff (Wedgwood, Toby jugs, old jewelery, books antique ornaments) could be worth quite a lot.

I don’t know where to start in trying to sell these things; who would buy them? Where would I get the best deal? How I can get them valued? As far as I understand it a jeweler charge 10% of the final value. I am sure there is a reason for this but it not a deal I’m willing to enter into… (whats to stop them from horribly over estimating the value?)

Can anyone advise me on the best way to sell this stuff?

There are 2 ways to solve this matter, one easy and fast way, where you will lose money and save time and effort, and a complicated way, where you have to spend lots of hours to find out, what you actually want to sell, or you will be cheated.

Type in at google "antique bulk sale" and you get 589.000 search results. A classified ad in your region will bring hordes of "buyers" who will cheat you, take the money and run, get rid of that stuff, basta.
Or read and learn, there are tons of informations about every single piece of your stuff on the ‘net, have fun! Then sell it for the real price, sure worth the effort in money, if you do it right.
I just started a blog about asian antiques, informations, facts and opinions. Maybe you find something helpful there, good luck!

depends how old it is , their website has some patterns on it, i found out what mine was by searching for royal doulton on ebay and looking at other peoples photos till i saw one like mine.

I think Bohemia is quite a bit less expensive than royal doulton as it is imported from Czechoslovakia. I realise this doesn’t necessarily make it inferior as a product but perhaps the answer lies in finding a design you really like rather than trying to distinguish quality. Any lead crystal is the best type but can’t be put in the dishwasher.

Go here and type in Olivia. She is really pretty. Wow they are expensive aren’t they?

I would also do a search in ebay.

I have a friend who is selling me one and I don’t want to get ripped off nor do I want to rip him off.

$100 to $125 dollars mark twin (9D6994) you can punch in the exact info in the yahoo search bar, not the Y answers and it takes you to a shop that sells them ..cheers

My husband has smashed mine. Whilst I’m at it, if anyone knows any spare men, now would be the time to mention it.

Have you tried Chinasearch? They are excellent for supplying discontinued porcelain and do stock royal doulton. They are online at: http://chinasearch.co.uk/store/royal-doulton/
As for spare men …. ’spare’ sounds as though you’re planning to augment your current collection, not replacing the one you’ve got. If the breakage was accidental I think augmenting or replacing your current man sound equally harsh! If it was deliberate, well now that’s another matter!

i have two royal doulton dolls
-thursday girl
-friday girl
can anyone tell me what i might get for them if i was to sell
thank you

take them to antiques roadshow lol
