My grandmother passed away recently and left me a huge amount of things in storage, I am keeping all the things of sentimental value and some valuable things but it still leaves a huge amount of china, glass, jewelery, books, vintage clothing, random ornaments… some of the stuff (Wedgwood, Toby jugs, old jewelery, books antique ornaments) could be worth quite a lot.

I don’t know where to start in trying to sell these things; who would buy them? Where would I get the best deal? How I can get them valued? As far as I understand it a jeweler charge 10% of the final value. I am sure there is a reason for this but it not a deal I’m willing to enter into… (whats to stop them from horribly over estimating the value?)

Can anyone advise me on the best way to sell this stuff?

There are 2 ways to solve this matter, one easy and fast way, where you will lose money and save time and effort, and a complicated way, where you have to spend lots of hours to find out, what you actually want to sell, or you will be cheated.

Type in at google "antique bulk sale" and you get 589.000 search results. A classified ad in your region will bring hordes of "buyers" who will cheat you, take the money and run, get rid of that stuff, basta.
Or read and learn, there are tons of informations about every single piece of your stuff on the ‘net, have fun! Then sell it for the real price, sure worth the effort in money, if you do it right.
I just started a blog about asian antiques, informations, facts and opinions. Maybe you find something helpful there, good luck!

are there any antique shops in your area that could look at the items for you? or maybe doing some research on the internet? otherwise i’d put them up on ebay. people there will buy anything and they would probably be given a happy home. good luck.
