I would not put Royal Doulton in a microwave. It's too good for it.

According to the Royal Doulton web site under care and use- pieces with gold or platinum are not microwave safe. BTW-Simply Platinum looks like a nice set.

It may be worth something as it is an original from Burslem. I am from Stoke on Trent. You need to get an expert to value it. It is either worth a lot or nothing at all

Nothing, there are loads of them around. This was the latest scam to get people to buy this set thinking that it would be worth something in the future. Loads of people did the same thing, and so it's not worth anything.

Your description sounds to me like it might be the Doulton "A Spook" HN51B. If it is, it is worth a fortune because according to one Doulton expert Jean Dale, none are known to exist! You might own the only one existing! A Spook has a blue robe which falls to the floor and he has it wrapped around himself, his facial features are prominent (a large nose and large ears), and his skull cap fits around his large ears. You should get a copy of the Charlton Standard Catalogue to compare the photo in this book to your figure. If you could send me a photo at oldemaine.com, I would be happy to tell you if it is A Spook or not. Hopefully it is!
