i would like to know if the designer/modeller Graham tongue is still alive and if so how old! he was design manager for beswick and royal doulton. I’m a big fan and cant find any information on him.

Hi! I’ve looked through a lot of sites and
can only find tidbits as well. Why don’t
you contact the firm and ask them? I’m
sure they’ll be happy to hear from a devotee
and will most certainly respond to your inquiry:)

The Royal Doulton group acquired the Beswick
factory in 1969 and when the modeller Albert
Hallam retired in 1975, Graham Tongue became
the head modeller at the Beswick studio and

added many new characters to the range in the
1980’s.

‘The Turkey’, D6889, modelled by J.G. Tongue
(Graham Tongue) the former head modeller of
‘Beswick’.

There was a big change in 1985, when all the HN
and K series of animals were discontinued. New
design manager Graham Tongue and a whole new
set of modellers were now working at the John
Beswick studios
