Royal Doulton crockery valuation?
21 Jun 2010
Ive got a full 10 place sitting royal doulton crockery set that Im thinking of getting valued. Its got the full works ranging from tea set – steak and normal plates – cake stand – serving plates. Massive set and never been used. Was passed down to me. Its all got Royal Doulton stamp. Also has CANTON H5052 on it. Would anyone have an idea what its worth?
There are quite a few pieces on EBay, so look on there it will give you some idea of prices. A cake stand it £12, Sugar bowl £9.99 Milk jug £9.99, Coffee cup and saucer £12.99, Tea plate £6.50. They are not hugely expensive but it would soon mount up with the quantity that you have.

2010 Jun 21 3Get the Royal Doulton catalogue from the library or check it out on-line.Doulton were long established here in Stoke on Trent, but have now sadly closed down.
Products with their back stamp are now made abroad and anything original has a rarity value.

2010 Jun 21 4The Royal Doulton Company is a very
famous English firm with a history dating
back to 1815 and their pieces have always been
desirable. Look:

2010 Jun 21 5This s not a valuation site for your antiques. Go to the library and get a book on tableware in the antiques section. Look up your pattern and figure the value. alternatively, go to http://www.replacements.com and find your dinnerware pattern and see what you would have to pay to get any of it replaced. this will help you figure your price.
or go on e-bay and see if there is any for sale there.
or call an antiques dealer (you know, those people in the yellow pages under antiques) and ask if anyone in the area specializes in dinnerware or porcelains. That person can tell you its approximate value. If you want to sell it, expect to pay 40-50% commision off from the final selling price to the dealer. They don’[t usually buy them outright. if you are gettting the value for insurance purposes, you will have to pay to get a certification of value from a certified appraiser. they also charge for their work…
